How It Works
The Carbon Yield Fund provides loan resources to large-scale grain farmers so they can transition to regenerative and organic practices, which yield soil carbon in addition to crops.
Carbon Yield registers and monetizes farmers’ carbon credits, generating attractive farmer and investment returns.
Organic grains’ 50-200% price premium sustains farmers who share the carbon credit revenue generated with Carbon Yield over a 10-year period.
Farms repay loan with interest through new, more stable revenue sources and investors recoup their initial investment contribution plus a percentage of carbon credit revenue.
Investment Opportunity
Pairing organic with regenerative practices allows farmers to rejuvenate depleted soil, remove carbon from the atmosphere, and monetize beneficial emissions reductions. The Carbon Yield Fund promises investment returns with environmental impact.
Impact Opportunity
Over 11,000 farms in the Midwest alone meet the Carbon Yield Fund criteria. In our first deployment, we aim to engage 40 farms or 100,000 acres. With this projection, in its first year the Fund will:
Combat climate change
Approximately 200,000 tons of carbon returned to soil
Reduce risk to food supply
Regenerative outperforms conventional in floods and droughts
Improve farm and soil value
100,000 acres of soil with deeply improved quality
Reduce water pollution
60%+ less nitrogen loss in organic farming
Product Scalability
The Carbon Yield Fund is a scalable financial product that can catalyze land transformation and carbon storage on millions of acres of degraded land across the Corn Belt.
Proven Experience
The Carbon Yield team is led by two Kellogg MBA candidates with government relations expertise and experience managing 20+ carbon offset projects, with 2+ million offsets sold. A strong advisory group supports our work.
